Name: Susan C.
State: Florida
Job Title: Medical Surgical Nurse
A Terrific Traveler and her Best Friend (Phillee, eater of stuffed alligators!!). This Med Surg guru is true to her calling, caring for others. Susan started nursing in 1968 and has remained true to helping to heal others. With only a brief stint in home care and a nursing home, she has been in the Acute Care realm of care over 98% of her career. She's been a traveler for only 6 months and with Cirrus the entire time. About being a traveler: she's meeting new and different nurses and getting to see how other facilities accomplish healthcare delivery. She's also getting a good "feel" for how different facilities allow their nurses and doctors to build working relationships. In her current assignment, she is thrilled about how the communication with travelers is defined. She believes that she has been thoroughly orientated to her "new" facility. The draw back for Susan is that she doesn't know what to expect with future assignments. "You never know if your next assignment is going to be a good one or not." She states that the facility rules and other F/T workers along with the hospital clientele have a lot to do with the makings of a good assignment. Advice that she gives to new travelers: "Go with a company that gives you the type of treatment that you need to thrive as an independent worker. Traveling for the expereinced nurse is marvelous!" Susan belives that this experience has already made her a better nurse.
