Amy D.

Name: Amy D.
State: Illinois
Job Title: RN, ICU Trauma, Surgical, Medical

Amy D. is an incredible ICU RN who takes her job literally!!!  Yes, that's Amy, our travel nurse, getting ready to drop out of the sky!  Amy hails from Illinois and has nine years of nursing experience with critically ill patients.  She has over one year of experience as a traveler and has only been with Cirrus a short period of time, but we have already received many compliments on her performance as a travel nurse.  Her hobbies include skydiving, cooking for friends, traveling to new places, and basically, anything chocked with adventure.  When she can persuade her nephews to hang out with their "aunt", she loves having those guys around as much as she can.  What Amy likes about being a traveler is meeting new people and seeing how procedures / care techniques are delivered differently among various facilities.  She believes that this experience alone advances her practice as a nurse.  Her advice to other travelers:  "Go with an open mind.  Patient care is the same everywhere, only manipulated differently from facility to facility.  Get a good base in your specialty and you can work anywhere."  Amy comments that her Cirrus recruiter, Jackie, made her feel instantly comfortable with Cirrus.  "Jackie steered both me and the facility to each other as soon as  possible and I appreciated her drive.  She's the BEST (and it's a plus that she's a  "hoot" to chat with on the phone!)."  Amy has traveled between California and Illinois throughout her time as a traveler.  We asked her if any "interesting" things have happened during her travels and her response was so funny, we have to share:  "while touring the town I'm presently traveling in, I walked into a tavern with a friend to play darts.  To our surprise, we discovered we were in a topless bar."  Obviously, they left immediately!!!  Amy likes being a Cirrus employee because we have made everything so smooth for her.  Amy states, "when I've traveled in the past, I found the companies I worked for (two different ones) had a lot of glitches.  It's been easy to transition to Cirrus and to being a traveler again because of a good solid company of professionals, particularly my recruiter."  Be on the lookout in the sky.  The sky's not falling, it's just Amy being "dropped off" to her next assignment!
